Leicester fans claim Tielemans’ penalty miss ‘shows how much he wants to leave’

Leicester fans feel Youri Tielemans has already left the club in his head after he missed an FA Cup penalty against Walsall.

Tielemans, 25, had the chance to put the Foxes in front just after half-time when team-mate Patson Daka was fouled in the box. But he hit the left post with his spot kick, spurning the glorious chance to take the lead.

The Belgian midfielder flung his arms up in the air in disbelief while supporters watching on at home fumed at him. One tweeted: "Youri Tielemans. That penalty miss shows us how bad he wants to leave Leicester, as for now. Horrible."

A second commented: "Tielemans been poor since being linked with Arsenal." And a third argued: "This guy hasn’t been the same since 2021."

"Youri Tielemans get out of my club mate," said a fourth, although a fifth felt he'd been done dirty by the penalty spot. They said: "Walsall groundsman saved Tielemans’ penalty."

Where should Tielemans go? Let us know in the comments section.

Tielemans is out of contract in the summer and looks unlikely to put pen to paper on a new deal at the King Power, having long been linked with a move up the Premier League.

He's been mostly linked to league leaders Arsenal, but they've this week had a £60million bid rejected for Brighton's Moises Caicedo, suggesting the Gunners now have other plans.

Manchester United have also been mentioned as a possible destination for Tielemans, as too have Newcastle. Reports claim he doesn't want to leave in January, though, ahead of a potential free transfer in the summer.

Leicester, meanwhile, were able to see off League Two side Walsall thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho's second-half strike – his 17th in 23 FA Cup appearances.
