Lionel Scaloni does NOT care where Lionel Messi plays his football
‘As long as he’s happy!’: Argentina’s World Cup-winning coach Lionel Scaloni does NOT care where Lionel Messi plays his club football as long as the forward is ‘comfortable’ amid talks of £522million Saudi Arabian deal with Al-Hilal
- Reports on Tuesday said Messi had signed a £522m deal with Saudi side Al-Hilal
- His father denied it and said no deal would be made until the season was over

Argentina’s World Cup-winning coach Lionel Scaloni said he does not care where Lionel Messi plays his club football as long as he feels comfortable and happy.
Messi’s future at Paris Saint Germain has been the subject of much speculation over the last week after the Qatari-owned club suspended him for taking a trip to Saudi Arabia and missing a training session.
French media on Tuesday reported that a move to a Saudi club was a ‘done deal’, adding that the Argentina captain was in the process of finalising details before signing a contract.
However, Messi’s father Jorge denied any agreement had been reached with another club and said that no decisions would be made until the end of the current campaign.
‘Let him go to where he will feel comfortable with his team mates and the club’s fans,’ Scaloni told Qatar’s Al-Kass channel.

‘The matter does not affect us as a national team as long as he’s happy when he joins us and we need him to be happy.’
Messi’s father has shutdown claims his son had agreed to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer and sign a big-money deal with a Saudi Arabia club on Tuesday afternoon.
Jorge released a statement after reports earlier in the day said that the forward would sign a massive contract worth £522million at Saudi side Al-Hilal.
Jorge took to social media to say: ‘There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made before Lionel finished the league with PSG.
‘Once the season is over it will be time to analyse and see what is there, and then make a decision. There are always rumors and many use the name of Lionel to gain notoriety but the truth is only one and we can assure that there is nothing with anyone. Neither verbal, nor signed, nor agreed, and there will not be until the end of the season.
‘It seems to me a lack of respect towards the media where they respond, that there are those who consciously and deliberately deceive, without providing any proof of their claims, and wanting to turn any malicious rumor into news or that is directed by someone in favor of their interests.
‘They would have to explain why they don’t contrast the information… They don’t want a truth to ruin their “news”‘.
However, Messi’s father Jorge shutdown claims a ‘deal with the Saudi side was done’
Jorge said there will be no verbal or signed agreement with any club until the end of the season
Jorge released the statement after a Saudi source told AFP that the 35-year-old would be ‘paying in Saudi next season’ and that the move was a ‘done deal’.
However, Messi’s entourage told GetFootballNewsFrance that no agreement had been reached with the Saudi outfit, before Jorge shutdown claims entirely.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain refused to comment on a deal with the Saudi side and simply reiterated the fact Messi’s contract lasts until June 30 this summer.
Although, a source close to Messi told Reuters that he had received a formal offer to join the Saudi club Al-Hilal next season, with a contract renewal at PSG not on the cards for the World Cup winner.
Talk of a move to Saudi heightened after he took an unauthorised trip to the country, where he holds a £25m-a-year tourism ambassadorial role. Messi’s trip went down very badly with the French giants, who suspended him for two weeks.
PSG players had a scheduled day off on the Monday but following their 3-1 defeat to Lorient the previous day, boss Christophe Galtier ordered them in for extra training. But Messi was already in transit to Saudi Arabia and wasn’t able to turn back.
However, Messi – who apologised to PSG and his team mates last week – returned to training with the Ligue 1 giants on Monday afternoon.
His apology read: ‘Hello. Well, I wanted to make this video after everything that’s going on.First of all, I apologise again to my team-mates at the club. I honestly thought that we were going to have the day off after the game as we had done before.
‘I had organised this trip to Saudi Arabia, which I had previously cancelled and I couldn’t go. Once again, I apologise for what I did. So here I am, waiting to see what the club wants to do, nothing more. A hug.’
