Liverpool duo missing from training ahead of crunch Real Madrid clash
Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Stefan Bajcetic were reportedly missing from training on Tuesday as the Reds began their final preparations for their Champions League last 16 second leg against Real Madrid. The double absence has now created concern amongst supporters, who know their chances of a stunning turnaround are already extremely limited with Liverpool needing to somehow overturn a three-goal deficit.
Both Henderson and Bajcetic started in the first leg at Anfield as Real Madrid came from behind to punish Liverpool’s defensive frailty.
Should either pair fail to make the cut, it could leave Jurgen Klopp’s side incredibly short of options in the middle of the park.
Both players featured in the 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday and it seems they may now have picked up a problem ahead of the trip to Spain.
Fabinho is fit for the contest while Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara remain sidelined due to fitness issues.
Liverpool and Man City given Gavi hope as Barca rocked by court ruling [LATEST]
It means Liverpool may have to think on their feet if they will be without the four potential absentees with James Milner among those that could step into the fold.
Harvey Elliott could also keep his place while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping for a rare nod as he approaches the final months of his contract.
If Henderson and Bajcetic are absent, there is a chance Klopp could be forced into a chance of formation.
With Liverpool in desperate need of at least three goals, the Reds could switch to a 4-2-3-1 to accommodate Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino.

The latter two are pushing for starts having found themselves on the bench for the bitterly-frustrating set-back at Bournemouth.
Joe Gomez has returned to training and could be fit for the contest.
The England international has been out of action since the 5-2 defeat, in which he was ruthlessly exposed by Karim Benzema.
Ibrahima Konate is expected to start in place of Gomez this time around as Liverpool look to tighten things up at the back.
Real Madrid have been in slightly shaky form themselves since winning at Anfield three weeks ago, in what could prove to be a leveller for the Reds.
Los Blancos recorded their first win in four matches on Sunday as they beat Espanyol 3-1 at the Bernabeu.
Prior to that they’d drawn with both Atletico Madrid and Real Betis either side of losing the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg 1-0 to Barcelona.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side know how to get the job done in the competition though having beaten Liverpool 1-0 in last year’s final in Paris.
