Liverpool supporters were jumping for joy on Monday as the Champions League last-16 draw pitted them up against Atletico Madrid.

The draw means the Reds will return to the Wanda Metropolitano, where they won last season’s Champions League, beating Tottenham 2-0 in the final in June.

And Liverpool supporters on Twitter couldn’t help but be ecstatic at returning to the scene of their latest triumph, where they won the European Cup for the sixth time.

Meanwhile, Chelsea supporters were equally excited with their opposition, as they take on Bayern Munich in a repeat of the 2012 Champions League final which they memorably won on penalties.

Supporters said on Twitter that Didier Drogba, who scored in normal time and converted the winning penalty seven years ago, should return to the team.

Manchester City supporters also seemingly fancy their chances against 13-time winners Real Madrid.

The majority of supporters seem to think City are favourties for the last-16 tie, despite a number of disappointing campaigns in Europe in the past few seasons.

With Borussia Dortmund facing PSG and Tottenham playing RB Leipzig too, the general consensus on social media was that it was a mouthwatering knockout-stage draw on Monday morning.

The first legs will be played on 18, 19, 25 and 26 February, with the return matches on 10, 11, 17 and 18 March.
