Liverpool hunt 10,000th goal as best scored under Jurgen Klopp are ranked

Liverpool have 9,999 goals to date in the club’s history – so every one of Jurgen Klopp’s players will be vying to start tonight.

The Reds host Norwegian side Midtjylland in the Champions League this evening at Anfield.

And while fans still cannot attend to cheer the team on, they will be watching closely from home to see who grabs the iconic milestone goal.

A lot depends on whether Klopp rings the changes for tonight’s clash with one eye on in-form West Ham’s Premier League visit on Halloween this coming Saturday evening (5.30pm).

Mohamed Salah and Said Mane have each shown their ruthless nature in front of goal in recent years and will want to grab No.10,000 – but could it yet be a surprise name who ultimately gets Liverpool over the line?

Ahead of the historic moment, potentially tonight, Daily Star Sport looks back at Liverpool’s best goals during Klopp’s reign.

6 – Coutinho’s dink

Of Philippe Coutinho’s 54 strikes in a Reds shirt, this was perhaps the most nonchalant of all.

The audacity to loop the ball over David de Gea’s shoulder from a tight angle after a mazy run was one thing.

But for it to ultimately dump Liverpool’s great rivals out of the Europa League in front of the Old Trafford crowd made it all the sweeter and memorable.

5 – Salah’s squeeze

Not Salah’s most significant goal for Liverpool by a long shot.

But he certainly defied the odds by scoring from the most acute angle away to Salzburg last season to ensure Liverpool topped their group in the Champions League.

After rounding the keeper, Salah somehow managed to find the net despite being on his right foot and curling the ball the wrong way towards goal.

4 – Mane’s drill

Once Klopp began to mould the Liverpool team into his own, fans saw the heavy metal football they were waiting for.

In Liverpool’s Premier League opener in the 2016/17 season, the Reds caught Arsenal by surprise.

Mane’s epic run and incredible left-footed drive showed he was too hot to handle for Arsenal’s defenders. Plus the limbs in the away end made it all the more special, as did his piggyback celebration with Klopp.

3 – Can’s bicycle

Watford were left open-mouthed by the German midfielder’s outrageous attempt at Vicarage Road.

A strike to win any Goal of the Season competition – but the lack of significance behind it sees it miss out to the top two.

We’re sure Can and Liverpool fans, though, will still remember it for years to come.

2 – Origi’s quick-thinking

Rarely is a goal scored where you have nothing to compare it to, and pundits never tire of analysing the genius behind it.

Trent Alexander-Arnold caught Barcelona napping at Anfield to find Divock Origi unmarked as they pulled off arguably the greatest corner-kick routine of all time.

And the fact it put Liverpool through to the Champions League final as they produced a miracle comeback against Lionel Messi and Co just adds to the story.

1 – Salah’s scorcher

Origi is unfortunate to miss out, but Salah makes our list for a second time with a goal that left Martin Tyler screaming and the red half of Merseyside.

Chelsea had no answer to the spectacular screamer Salah fired home out of nowhere.

Netting it against his former club, keeping Liverpool in the title race, and celebrating with a yoga pose in from the of the Kop – it doesn’t get much sweeter.
