Liverpool ‘monitoring Jack Grealish’ after reports of Mohamed Salah unhappiness

Liverpool are now tracking Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The England international star has become one of the Premier League’s star players since helping Villa secure promotion back in 2019.

Grealish has gone from strength to strength and the 25-year-old is now a regular under Gareth Southgate with the Three Lions.

Villa managed to tie him down on a new contract as recently as September, when he penned a new five-year deal worth £130,000-a-week.

But interest from England’s biggest clubs has continued to surround Grealish.

A move to a Champions League side could yet be on the cards and prove appealing after Euro 2020 next summer.

While Dean Smith’s Villa, who narrowly avoided relegation back down into the Championship last season, are flying with seven wins from 12 games played, elite teams are hovering.

Manchester United and Manchester City are keen on Grealish and could make formal bids in 2021.

However, Liverpool’s interest has now emerged and Jurgen Klopp ’s side are monitoring him, according to the Mirror .

The Premier League champions could require a top signing to strengthen their attack for next season, especially if Salah goes.

A former team-mate of Salah for Egypt, Mohamed Aboutrika, has claimed he is “unhappy” at Anfield.

And the 28-year-old himself even conducted an interview with Spanish newspaper AS recently where he left the door open to a transfer to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

While Liverpool chiefs and Klopp don’t want to sell Salah, his long-term future on Merseyside appears to be in some doubt.

Grealish is not a like-for-like swap, but he would offer Liverpool real quality in attack.

His stats in the top flight are impressive too, having scored five times and provided six assists for Villa in the Premier League this term.

Grealish helped torment Klopp’s Liverpool when they visited Villa Park back in early October and succumbed to a humiliating 7-2 defeat, in which Grealish netted twice.
