Mohamed Salah’s team-mates at Liverpool are becoming increasingly concerned about the possibility of the Egyptian forward seeking a move away from Anfield, according to reports. Salah has recently been at the centre of intense transfer speculation amid suggestions that he could be set to call time on his spell at the Merseyside club in the near future.

Salah has led the attacking charge for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, chipping in with 25 goals and 4 assists from 40 matches in all competitions.

However, his campaign has been plagued by an ever-growing uncertainty surrounding his immediate future, with the 28-year-old repeatedly refusing to rule out a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona before the end of his career.

He revealed in an interview with AS back in December that he sees the El Clasico pair as ‘top clubs’, fuelling speculation that he could choose to up sticks in search of a new challenge before long.

Salah was again asked to clarify his thoughts earlier this week, with the Liverpool forward hinting that he is open to a La Liga switch.

“I hope to be able to play for many more years,” he told Marca when quizzed on whether a move to Spain could be on the cards.

“Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so maybe one day, yes.”

Salah’s reluctance to commit to the Reds has led a number of his team-mates to believe that he may be looking to leave the club, according to ESPN.

The report suggests that there is a growing sense of uncertainty within Liverpool’s ranks over whether he will aim to force his way out of the exit door in order to find new suitors.

It is claimed that Salah’s future rests partly on the remainder of the campaign, as the prospect of an extended stay can be aided if Liverpool manage to seal European qualification for next season.

However, the winger remains contracted until the summer of 2023 and club chiefs are said to be relaxed about the situation and in no hurry to make any rash decisions.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Barcelona are both feeling the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and may not be able to stump up the cash needed to prise Salah away from Liverpool.

The report claims that he is likely to be valued at close to the £100million mark, and that the Spanish pair’s pursuit of a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland could pour cold water on Salah’s hopes of a move to La Liga.

Klopp suggested last month that he is not entertaining the possibility of Liverpool losing their star man, stressing that his players remain committed despite the club’s on-pitch struggles since the turn of the year.

“That is nothing we have to worry about,” the German boss told reporters. “It was always like this. I know we have loyalty from the players.

“It is not a situation where a player in the squad says we are not in the Champions League so I have to leave. That will not happen. I know them well enough to know that.”

Salah has played 192 matches for Liverpool since joining the club in the summer of 2017, providing a combined total of 164 goals and assists in the process.
