Liverpool have been sounded out about a move for Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa. They want a midfielder of physical presence who won’t cut across the arrival of Jude Bellingham next summer.
Luiz’s current deal at Villa Park is set to expire next summer but the 24-year-old could be set for an early exit after picking up interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League giants.
The German manager is eager to add a midfielder to his ranks before the transfer window closes after being without without the injured Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.

Julian Ward, Liverpool’s sporting director, and Klopp have been speaking continually with Mike Gordon, the president of owners Fenway Sports Group about potential targets.
The German manager has previously insisted that the Premier League giants will waste no time in moving for someone, if convinced that they will be right for the club.
‘We are looking for it,’ said Klopp, who won’t settle for anything other than Liverpool’s first Premier League win of the season against Bournemouth on Saturday. If it is the right player, we need him. If it is not the right player, we don’t need him.’

It has now been declared that Liverpool are interested in the services of Aston Villa midfielder, Luiz, for the remainder of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
Villa have made a poor start to the season, winning just once and losing four more – therefore, Luiz could be tempted by a move away.

Luiz has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at Villa Park, which could see the player leave the club this summer, with the Premier League side likely wary of losing him for free next summer.
Liverpool are reluctant to let a deal this summer disrupt their chances of signing Bellingham
England international has been heavily linked to Liverpool but Klopp says he’s not available
However, Liverpool are reluctant to let a deal this summer disrupt their chances of signing Bellingham next season.
Bellingham, who went on record in May saying that he would spend this season in Germany, is focused on the forthcoming campaign with Borussia Dortmund.
Additionally, Klopp is aware that his former club have no interest in losing the 19-year-old in the same window as Erling Halaand.
Therefore, Liverpool have decided to wait until next summer to make their move for the England midfielder.
