Lyon chief responds to Arsenal’s Aouar link after he ‘played last game for club’

Lyon's sporting director Juninho Pernambucano says the club have not received any bids for Arsenal transfer target Houssem Aouar amid suggestions the midfielder may have played his last game for the French outfit.

Aouar has been attracting heavy interest from The Gunners, as well as Man City, Chelsea and PSG this summer.

The 22-year-old could even leave without featuring again for Lyon due to suspension after being sent off in Tuesday's defeat to Montpellier.

But with less than three weeks remaining of the transfer window the clock is ticking on a potential deal.

Lyon are also braced for Memphis Depay's possible departure with Barcelona lining up a €25m (£22.9m) bid, but Juninho insists there has been no contact for either player.

"For now, there is nothing for these players, we have not received anything for Houssem, we have not received anything for Memphis," Juninho said.

Both players were instrumental in helping Lyon to the Champions League semi-finals last season but the club's failure to secure qualification for the competition again has left them open to being cherry-picked by other sides.
