Man United 'could have to pay £60MILLION to sign Joao Palhinha'

Man United ‘could have to pay £60MILLION to sign Joao Palhinha’… with Fulham ‘targeting Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe as a replacement for the Portuguese star’

  • Fulham step-up deal for Colombian midfielder Mateus Uribe for next season
  • The Cottages see Uribe as replacement for Portuguese star Joao Palhinha
  • Palhinha is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs including Man Utd

Manchester United are set to target Fulham’s Joao Palhinha this summer, with Fulham already lining up Porto’s Mateus Uribe as a replacement for their Portuguese star.

Palhinha arrived at Craven Cottage in £20million deal from Sporting Lisbon last summer, and his displays this season have attracted notable attention from some of the Premier League’s top clubs.

One of the club’s monitoring the situation is believed to be Manchester United, with Fulham set to demand £60million for the midfielder star.

If Palhinha does end his stay in West London, the Cottagers have eyed-up the perfect replacement for the Portuguese, in Porto’s Mateus Uribe, according to The Sun.

Fulham are said to have already made contact with Uribe’s representatives and are speaking with Porto, but with the Colombian’s contract expiring at the end of the season, a deal is ready to be done to bring him to the Premier League.

Joao Palhinha has been a huge success for Fulham this season but could move in the summer

The Cottagers are eyeing up a move for Porto’s Colombian midfielder Mateus Uribe

They could however, face competition for the 32-year-old, with both Atletico Madrid and Lazio also interested in signing Uribe on a free transfer ahead of next season.

Uribe joined Porto from Mexican side Club America in 2019 and has won two league titles with the club. This season he’s played 42 times for the Portuguese giants, netting four goals and one assist.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is keen to pair up Uribe with Palhinha in the centre of his team’s midfield, but there is a growing feeling that he won’t be at the club next season.

The 27-year-old, who almost joined Wolves before opting for West London in the summer, has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag is set for a major overhaul of his Manchester United squad ahead of next season

He’s played 31 times for Silva’s men, netting four goals, and played an integral part in the club’s return to the top flight, where they’re set for a top-half finish having only been promoted last season.

Erik ten Hag is set for a major overhaul of his squad over the summer, and the club could make their move for Palhinha in the coming weeks.

It’s believed up to thirteen players could be shown the exit door at Old Trafford, with Palhinha’s possible arrival putting the future of midfielders Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay further in doubt.
