Man United fans are left purring as Amad Diallo scores a stunner

‘Bring him home!’: Man United fans are left purring as on-loan youngster Amad Diallo scores a stunner in Sunderland’s 2-1 defeat to Coventry… with supporters already suggesting they will be ‘LETHAL’ with the Ivorian in their side next season

  • Amad Diallo has eight goals and three assists in all competitions for Sunderland
  • The Ivorian spent a year at United before going on two successive loan spells
  •  Kris Boyd claims Marcus Rashford is arguably the BEST player in the WORLD

Amad Diallo left Manchester United fans daydreaming about his return to the club at the end of the season, after the on-loan forward scored a sumptuous goal for Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

The Ivorian winger received the ball on the right-hand side of the box after ball was flung in deep into stoppage time with the visitors chasing the game at 2-0 down.

But the 20-year-old had not given up the ghost yet, and controlled it well with his left foot before unleashing a whipped ball into the top left corner across the Coventry goal to grab a late consolation for the away side.

It was not enough to inspire a dramatic comeback, after Jamie Allen and Victor Gyokeres gave the home side a two-goal advantage.

And Diallo’s heroics left United fans rubbing their hands in glee at the thought of his return at the end of the season after an impressive campaign in the Championship.

The Ivorian has been in good form for the Black Cats on loan this season with eight goals in the Championship

One fan called for his loan to be cut short, writing: ‘Bring him home.’

Another fans’ mouth was watering at the idea of Alejandro Garnacho playing on one flank, with the Ivorian down the other, saying: ‘Can’t wait till Amad Diallo comes back home man Manchester United are gonna (be) so lethal next season man.

‘Just imagine what United can do when we have both Garnacho and Amad in the starting line up.’

A third supporter put paid to any doubters of the forward’s abilities by claiming that it was still a Premier League quality finish, adding: ‘Another game, another big performance from Amad Diallo.

‘Yes folk will say it’s “The Championship” but the pitch, ball & goal are the same as in the Premier League & it’s still 11 vs 11. He’s showing his ability & doing all he can to impress Erik ten Hag with his performances.’

A fourth suggested that his form might have piqued the interest of the Dutch manager, and believes that none of the current squad have claimed the right-wing position, writing: ‘Really interested to see what Ten Hag does with him next season. No one has nailed down that right-wing spot yet.’

And a fifth and final fan claiming the loan deal has been key to the player’s development, stating: ‘Amad Diallo is having fantastic season with Sunderland! The loan move is serving him well soo much talent.

‘Talented players can come to England but look out of place due to physicality of the league takes time to adapt not easy process.’

Traore has made nine appearances for Manchester United after joining in January 2021

Diallo has eight goals and three assists this season in all competitions at the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan from United.

The 20-year-old joined the club back in January 2021 from Italian side Atalanta, and spent a year at the club before moving out on loan to Rangers in January 2023, and then Sunderland in the summer.

He has however already made his first appearances in a United shirt, playing nine times and managing an assist and a goal.

But he will likely take heart in the fact that Ten Hag has shown himself ready to give a chance to young players in the senior side, with Garnacho emerging as a key player at the club this season after graduating from the Under-18s last term.
