Man United move for Neymar would be IMPOSSIBLE due to FFP constraints

Man United moving for Neymar would be IMPOSSIBLE in the summer transfer window due to his huge wages and FFP concerns… but Qataris would still want a marquee summer should their £5bn bid for the club succeed

  • Neymar commands an eye-watering £606,000-a-week salary at PSG
  • Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is one of the front runners in United takeover
  • MUST urge the Glazers to ‘GET ON WITH IT!!’ as deadline for takeover bids looms

Manchester United would find it impossible to make a rumoured shock move for Neymar Jr during the upcoming transfer window due to FFP concerns related to the player’s sky-high wages.

The Paris Saint-Germain ace is said to have been eyed as a marquee signing for United’s potential buyer Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani should he receive the greenlight to purchase the club.

But Neymar – who remains the most expensive player in the history following his £198million transfer from Barcelona to the Ligue 1 outfit – will prove out of reach regardless of whether the Qatari takeover goes ahead.

The Brazilian star commands one of the highest salaries in international football at PSG, earning an upwards of £606,000 per week, and is tied to a contract at his current club that is set to keep him in Paris until 2027.

Despite United looked to sell a number of players this summer to shake up their wage bill, the Manchester club would likely run into trouble with financial regulatory constraints should they look to tempt Neymar with a move north.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani (L) and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the two front-runners in the sale

Additionally, Neymar is said to be uncertain about playing in the Premier League, further complicating the issue.

The deadline for closing bids from prospective buyers for United is on Friday and Sheikh Jassim’s offer – coming through his Nine Two Foundation, an entity set up for the purpose of purchasing the club – is for total control.

His closest competitor, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is said to be tabling a number of options, including one that would see Ratcliffe take a controlling stake of more than 50 per cent, with Joel and Avram Glazer retaining a combined 20 per cent.

The two Glazers are the members of the family tied closest to their family-owned club, and the Americans’ involvement at United has been viewed as deeply controversial with large swathes of the side’s supporters.

Should Sheikh Jassim’s bid be successful, the club is likely to invest in a statement signing to announce the new leadership.

Along with Neymar, Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen have also been discussed.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (L) and Harry Kane both have the appropriate starpower to be a potential marquee signing for the Manchester club

The Tottenham forward has been frequently linked to United amidst rumours that Kane will seek a move away from north London in a bid to challenge for silverware at the height of his powers.

During Tottenham’s home clash with the Red Devils on Thursday evening, United fans chanted Kane’s name and sung ‘see you in June’ in the Spurs record goalscorer.

As well as at the front, manager Erik ten Hag will look to make adjustments to his backline during the summer transfer window.

United is said to be greenlighting the departure of up to four defenders as Ten Hag eyes the shake-up, with targets such as Benfica’s Antonio Silva and Kim Min-jae of Napoli featuring on the Dutch manager’s wish list.
