Man Utd ace Bruno Fernandes shows true colours in video after Copenhagen loss

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes displayed his true feelings after their 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday left their Champions League hopes hanging in the balance. The Red Devils skipper played his part after scoring to give United the lead for the second time on the night, but a late collapse saw them succumb to defeat in Denmark – and the effect on Fernandes was clear to see.
The 28-year-old wears his heart on his sleeve as the team skipper after being appointed as Erik ten Hag’s new captain in the summer, replacing Harry Maguire in the role, but he could not inspire his side to victory or even a point after a calamitous evening at Parken.
Rasmus Hojlund’s early double put United in front before Marcus Rashford’s controversial red card, following an intervention from VAR, turned the tie on its head. Mohamed Elyounoussi got one back for the hosts before Diogo Goncalves equalised from the spot after Harry Maguire was penalised.
It was Fernandes who had got Ten Hag’s men back in front with their own penalty when Lukas Lerager was also punished for a handball inside the box. But he made amends with an equaliser on 84 minutes before 17-year-old Roony Bardghji struck a late winner, leaving United feeling crestfallen after the seven-goal thriller went in Copenhagen’s favour.

In previously unseen footage that had been circulated on social media, Fernandes could be seen sat on a step – in what appeared to be a walkway – after the game.
And in the short video clip, Fernandes can be seen bowing his head into hands looking demoralised after watching his team crumble against their Danish opponents.
It was a telling reaction which shows just how high emotions are running within the Old Trafford camp at the moment after nine defeats in their 18 games this season. And the playmaker did little to hide his feelings in his post-match interview after lamenting the team’s failure to get a result.

When asked about the feeling was in the dressing room, Fernandes told the club’s official website: “Disappointment. I think for everything we did in the game, we could and should have gotten something.
“It is difficult at the moment, obviously, and the mood is not the best because I think we fought so hard with ten men that even from then on it was playing against a team that plays really well on the ball, and as a part of that, many decisions went against us.
“Today was a tough day but I think the team effort was good. We tried. We could have done some things better, but it was difficult for us from thirty minutes on, playing with one player less.”
United can still qualify for the last-16 knockout round but they must not lose to Galatasaray in Turkey to keep their hopes alive with a home game against Bayern Munich still to come.
