Man Utd chief Ed Woodward rejects exclusive transfer offer for proven goalscorer

Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Hamburg winger wide-man Filip Kostic. The Red Devils are currently on the lookout for more reinforcements to bolster their chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

Top of United’s wish list is Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, who they’ve been chasing all summer long.

United, however, are refusing to meet Dortmund’s £108million valuation of the England international.

It’s understood the Red Devils have contemplated signing a cheaper alternative to Sancho, who bagged 20 goals and 20 assists for the Bundesliga side last season.

And according to Stretty News, Kostic had been identified as a less costly option to Sancho.

Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Serbia international Filip Kostic

They, however, claim United turned down the opportunity to acquire the Serbia international’s services for a meagre £27million.

If true, the Red Devils have missed out on the opportunity to sign a winger who scored 12 goals and provided 18 assists last season.

United have had a quiet transfer window by their standards, signing only one new player so far.

That new arrival came in the form of Netherlands midfielder Donny van de Beek, who they brought to Old Trafford from Ajax earlier this month for a fee of £40million.

The sole addition of Van de Beek to United’s squad has raised serious concerns among the Old Trafford faithful, many of whom are worried about a lack of depth.

Solskjaer, however, believes those concerns are misplaced.

“I think you show quite a bit of disrespect to Donny when you say he was the only one,” Solskjaer told a reporter when quizzed about United’s dealings in the window.

“Because he is a top player and he strengthens our team and, of course, we have to concentrate on ourselves.

“Different clubs have to be allowed to do whatever they do and feel they can. We are working hard to have a competitive squad and team.

“If and when there are updates we will give you them.”

Manchester United will be back in action on Wednesday night, travelling to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Solskjaer’s troops will go into the match on the back of a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Seagulls, which secured them their first points of the season.
