Antony’s former partner, Gabriela Cavallin, has alleged that she has been physically attacked by the 23-year-old on multiple occasions during their time together in Manchester and in their native Brazil.
Antony, who denies the accusations made by Cavallin, was been placed on an indefinite leave of absence by United.
But United have now welcomed him back while ‘police inquiries proceed’ into his actions.
‘Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so,’ United said in a statement.
‘As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.
‘As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.’
It was reported on Wednesday that Antony has returned to the UK and has agreed to meet Greater Manchester Police over the allegations of assault.
Antony was voluntarily interviewed by police in Brazil in June and has not been arrested or charged.
The winger was dropped from Brazil’s national side during the international break earlier this month amid the allegations.
