Man Utd couldn’t flog Rasmus Hojlund shirts for a month due to club shop error

Manchester United fans were not able to buy Rasmus Hojlund shirts for more than a month after his arrival – because they didn't have the right letters.

The 20-year-old joined the club for an initial £64million from Atalanta and was handed the No.11 shirt, but supporters couldn't get a replica because of the Danish 'ø' which is replaced by o in the English equivalent.

Hojlund, who recovered from injury to make his debut against Arsenal before the international break, was finally a name avaliable to fans from Friday – six weeks after his signing was confirmed.

The Mail report that United got their stock on Thursday, meaning fans can now get ready for his potential first start against Brighton on September 16.

Hojlund was signed by United to give Erik ten Hag a central striking option, despite his inexperience at the age of just 20.

The forward has just 88 senior club appearances to his name having joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz in 2022 – the same year he left Copenhagen.

Hojlund does have six goals to his name with the Denmark national side, making his debut in September of last year.

Ten Hag has said of the youngster: "He didn’t even play games but now in the training sessions, he confirms the impression we had of him when we scouted him.

"We really intensely scouted him. He’s acting very good this week, very good spirit. He’s very motivated, of course, to start, to be in the team.

"He can’t wait and I think we did the right thing (waiting for his debut) but, of course, I would have appreciated it if it was from the first game on, but that was not the case.

"But now he is fit, we are happy, he will definitely strengthen the squad and give a very good impact on the team."
