Usain Bolt has been a passionate Manchester United fan for a number of years – and he has given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer some advice to improve his current team. The Red Devils have enjoyed a strong season but Bolt still reckons Fred is a weak link who needs dropping from the starting line-up.
The Brazilian midfielder struggled to make an impact under Jose Mourinho after his big-money move from Shakhtar Donetsk but has found an increased role under Solskjaer.
Many believe Fred has become a key cog in United’s midfield – but the world’s fastest man is not in agreement.
And he also reckons Solskjaer needs to hand Edinson Cavani more game time as well as adding a striker to his ranks in the summer.

“I think Fred should not be in the midfield,” he told CNN. “I think he is lacking so much. He works hard, but he’s lacking passing and he gives away a lot of cheap fouls in bad areas – and we definitely need more strikers, somebody that’s really a pure striker.
“I think [Edinson] Cavani needs to play more. I definitely feel like as long as he’s fit, he should be on the field, you know what I mean, and overall I think we need to just pressure all the players. I feel like they’re so comfortable now because they know they’re going to start.
“If you’re sure of your spot, then you don’t play as hard as you should. So it’s just one of those things I feel like needs to change and we’ll be fine.”

Despite sitting second in the Premier League table, Bolt believes it has “not been the best season” for his beloved Red Devils.
“It’s not been the best season,” Bolt admits. “In fact, I’m actually surprised we’re in second place, you know what I mean, because it’s been so up and down.
“So I’m just happy that we’re in the top four. Now hopefully we get at least one trophy this year because I think we definitely need one. So I just got to cross my fingers and hope for the best!”
Whilst Bolt is not a fan of Fred, Solskjaer praised the Brazilian as he reached 100 Premier League appearances earlier this season.
“He’s really done well and I have to say I have enjoyed working with him,” Solskjaer said.
“When I came he was a boy that was struggling a bit. The numerous questions I got about Fred in press conferences then!
“As I said then, players coming into a new country, it takes time to settle and it took some time for Fred to settle.
“Now that he has, he’s grown in confidence.
“As you said, 100 games – there are not many people that can say they’ve played 100 games for Man United, and I’m sure there will be many more [appearances] to come.”
