Manchester United fans are in agreement over Jose Mourinho being appointed by Roma – days before the teams meet again in the Europa League.

The Portuguese boss will take on his ninth different club as manager as he is set to take over with the Serie A giants for the 2021/22 season, who will take on the boss's former side in the Europa League semi-final second leg which they are losing 6-2 on aggregate.

It comes as the side from the Eternal City have missed out on Champions League football and are one loss away from losing the Europa League qualification.

They will look to Mourinho to improve their form, bringing him in just 15 days after the 58-year-old's departure from Tottenham.

But the United faithful, who saw the manager take charge of their side for two-and-a-half years, have agreed that Roma could be in for a tough time.

"I feel bad for Roma fans," one supporter said.

Another commented: "Roma won't come out of their ruins by the time Mourinho is done with them."

While a third could not believe the news, writing: "EXCUSE ME, BUT WHAT THE F***?"

And a fourth added: "Tell me this is a jokes lol. How it possible?"

Mourinho helped United to the 2017 Europa League and Carabao Cup in his first season – but was sacked in December 2018 after a loss to Liverpool which put them sixth in the Premier League table.

But the Portuguese boss will get a reunion with some players in Rome as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was swapped for Alexis Sanchez in January 2018, and Chris Smalling are on the books in Italy.

And this was spotted by some United fans, with one saying: "I’m sorry lads – you’ll get through this tough period."
