Man Utd fans’ latest anti-Glazer protest takes aim at new £235m sponsors

Manchester United fans are threatening to boycott products provided by Manchester United ’s commercial partners in the latest attempt to protest against the Glazer family's ownership of the club.

United’s new principal shirt sponsor TeamViewer has also taken a hit, receving an avalanche of negative online reviews.

Thousands of disgruntled fans voiced their concerns about the state of the club this weekend – and in particular the disinterest from the Glazer family.

Under the Americans, United’s net debt has grown to £455.5million, with much of that leveraged against the club itself.

There are also concerns about the state of the stadium, as well as the clearly visible reduction of quality within the playing staff.

The issue has been brought to a head since the Glazers were a driving force in the now disbanded European Super League.

Supporters forced the owners into an embarrassing U-turn, with Joel Glazer breaking his silence to offer a grovelling apology.

That has fallen on deaf ears however, as evidenced by the large protests both outside and inside Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The demonstration would ultimately see United’s fixture with Liverpool postponed, although that appears to only be the start of a concerted effort to force the family to put the club up for sale.

On Tuesday, commercial partners were sent a letter from supporters promising to take their custom elsewhere, if they remained in partnership with the Glazers.

“As commercial partners of the Glazer family you are legitimate targets of the global fanbase because the combined £279million per annum you pay will not go towards investment in the squad to compete with the best clubs that United now trail,” the letter obtained by The Times reads.

“It will not go towards refurbishing Old Trafford or training facilities, both now so outdated they have become a symbol for Glazer disinterest.

“To that end, Manchester United fans will boycott your products, seeks to tarnish your brands and support your competitors until you terminate your commercial partnership with the Glazer family.”

German tech company TeamViewer were only announced as the new front-of-shirt sponsor earlier this year, agreeing to a £235m deal.

However, they have received hundreds of negative reviews on Trustpilot, plunging their status down to 1.3 stars out of five.

Due to the number of fresh reviews, the website were forced to offer a warning, which read: “This profile has seen a significant increase in reviews.

“Although we understand you want to voice your opinion about things in the news and issues trending on social media, Trustpilot is a place for feedback based on genuine buying and service experiences.

“If you've had a genuine experience with TeamViewer you're of course more than welcome to leave your review here.”
