Man Utd given green light, Chelsea fee approved, Man City agree terms

How does Caicedo’s Chelsea transfer compare to previous big-money deals?

Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all began their Premier League campaigns with victories as the season got underway last Friday. And the three giants look like they will delve into the transfer market again before the window closes to give themselves the best shot at claiming silverware.

United are still trying to thrash out a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, while their neighbours across Manchester are moving for Rennes attacker Jeremy Doku. Arsenal completed a deal to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya on Tuesday and are now targeting Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.

Elsewhere, big-spending Chelsea have agreed a £58million deal with Southampton in exchange for highly-rated midfielder Romeo Lavia and are also closing in on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. Liverpool have joined Brighton in the race to sign teenager midfielder Carlos Baleba from Lille, and Tottenham are chasing Gent striker Gift Orban as they search for a Harry Kane replacement.

The transfer window is set to slam shut on Friday, September 1 at 11pm – but there could be a plethora of moves before then. And Express Sport is on hand to keep you up to date with all the latest transfer news and done deals on Wednesday, August 16. So follow our live updates below.

Man Utd given green light for Amrabat move

Manchester United have been given the green light to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to Italian outlet La Nazione, as midfielder Donny van de Beck is about to ‘give up’ on the Red Devils and move elsewhere. The 13-time Premier League champions have already made room in their midfield department by selling Fred to Fenerbahce.

United have confirmed their interest in Amrabat and the situation remains fluid as the Red Devils have asked Fiorentina for a few more days. But the Italian giants won’t consider a transfer for anything less than £21.5million.
