Man Utd go on ‘scouting mission’ as Erik ten Hag’s side in three-way Prem battle

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey ahead of a potential transfer pursuit, according to reports. But the Red Devils face competition from two Premier League rivals as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his defence in the upcoming transfer windows.

Ten Hag watched Boey close up earlier this month when Galatasaray left Old Trafford with a shock 3-2 win in the Champions League.

And the 23-year-old’s form throughout the start of the season has attracted interest from elsewhere after he reportedly missed out on a move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Brighton are back in for Boey, joined by Burnley and United in monitoring the France U20 international’s progress.

Scouts from all three clubs are claimed to have been in attendance at Saturday’s 2-1 win against Besiktas in the Istanbul derby, as well as those from Italian, French and Spanish outfits.

The report adds that while United could have been watching other names at RAMS Park, Boey is a favourite among club scouts.

Boey was widely expected to be rewarded for his eye-catching exploits this term with his first call-up to the France national team this month.

And despite his snub, France boss Didier Deschamps opened the door for his opportunity to arrive in the future if his positive development continues.

“There are other players that we are tracking in this position [right-back], clearly,” Deschamps explained during the October international break.

“But there is competition, and I have to consider what is best for the national team, even if it’s a position where there aren’t a lot of concrete options at the top level. But the door is always open to more solutions.”

United have been linked with a new right-back since Ten Hag’s arrival last summer despite having two experienced options in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Both stars have improved under the Dutchman, with Wan-Bissaka starting the season as his first-choice option before Dalot replaced him due to an injury.

Ten Hag may want to add a right-back as he continues to fill different positions with his own signings, though, and Boey has emerged as an attractive option.

But there are, once again, higher priority positions to address in his rebuild, which could see right-back plans pushed aside for another season at least.
