Manchester United 's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho has been a long, drawn out saga which is set to come to an end when the transfer window slams shut next week.

Sancho is United's top target and Daily Star Sport understands they will make a first and final offer of £90m for the England international this week.

The potential move would see United fork out an initial £75m, with a further £15m to be paid in add-ons.

However, Dortmund are still holding out for their £108m asking price and United do not intend to pay that much, believing their offer is generous in the current market.

If their take-it-or-leave-it offer is unsuccessful, then the Manchester Evening News are reporting that the club have a list of back-up options that they will focus on.

United could look to sort a short-term fix in the form of a loan move, having pinpointed the right wing position as somewhere they wanted to strengthen this summer.

Former United striker Andy Cole believes Sancho would be a good signing but warned that he will not solve all the club's problems.

He said: "One player cannot make a team championship contenders. Unless we’re talking Messi or Ronaldo, where these guys are on a different level to anyone else, one player cannot make Manchester United title contenders.
