Man Utd hold ‘positive talks’ in good news for Casemiro and Garnacho

Casemiro and Alejandro Garnacho will be pleased to hear that their good friend David de Gea looks set to be staying at Manchester United. Recent reports suggest that the Spanish goalkeeper is in ‘positive discussions’ with the club hierarchy over a new deal.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that De Gea will be forced to take a pay cut on his hefty £375,000 per week wages if he is to stay at Old Trafford. The 32-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer although Man Utd have the option to extend it by a year automatically.
Sources have told ESPN that the Red Devils are hoping to tie De Gea down to a fresh four-year deal and understand that most of the terms have already been agreed. This will serve as a great relief for Garnacho and Casemiro, who will have been concerned about losing their team-mate.
De Gea and Casemiro’s ‘bromance’ became public last month when the goalkeeper posted a photo on his Instagram story of a note left to him by the Brazilian, reading: “I love you d***head.” De Gea responded by writing back: “Love you too, bro.”
Meanwhile, Garnacho has also described De Gea as one of his three closest mates at the club. Speaking during an interview with club media, he said: “Lisandro Martinez is like my father here.
“He tells me what I’m doing right and wrong. I’m also very close to Bruno [Fernandes]. He helps me a lot. There is also De Gea. He is a very good friend.”

De Gea broke Alex Stepney’s goalkeeping appearance record for the club with 540 in United’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League. Although his achievement was overshadowed by a shocking mistake that led to the sole goal of the game.
As Said Benhrama broke free of Luke Shaw the Algerian made a B-line for the United goal mouth but was quickly closed down by Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof. Sensing that he could be dispossessed at any moment, Benhrama took an ambitious swipe at the ball which somehow made its way into the back of the net through De Gea’s hand.
The Red Devils keeper was left with his head in his hands as the London Stadium erupted into a cacophony of noise. The defeat saw United slip up in the race for a top-four spot with just one point now separating them and Liverpool – though Erik ten Hag’s men do have the opportunity to extend that to four points by winning their game in hand.
