Manchester United are reportedly in very advanced talks to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils have been linked with the centre-back for some time, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a big fan of the Frenchman and on the hunt for the perfect player to partner captain Harry Maguire.
Varane is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and there has been no talk of him penning a new contract at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are facing up to the reality of either selling Varane this summer and making some money for the defender or losing him on a free the following season.
Los Blancos boss Zidane has reportedly softened to the idea of selling Varane as a result.
According to El Chiringuito TV, Manchester United are now said to be in very advanced talks to sign the defender this summer, which, in some ways, would be a win-win scenario for both parties.
Real Madrid defenders Nacho and Eder Militao have stepped up to the plate for Zidane in the meantime.
The duo formed an impenetrable partnership in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool, as Real Madrid came out on top on Wednesday night.
The Reds needed to score at least twice to have any chance of qualifying for the semis but were unable to hit the back of the net once, with Real Madrid holding them to a goalless draw.
Los Blancos won the tie 3-1 on aggregate from the first leg in Madrid.
