Man Utd: Solskjaer says Red Devils to get ‘mojo’ back
Manchester United simply need to “keep doing what they’re doing” to remain in the mix for the Premier League title, says Sam Homewood. The Red Devils have played their way into contention this season, taking 41 points from 21 games even had a spell at the top of the table last month.
However, a shock defeat at home to Sheffield United and a goalless draw at Arsenal has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side slip to second, with Manchester City going three points clear at the summit.
But Homewood, who joined MUTV as a presenter in 2018 and now also co-hosts the club’s official podcast, UTD Podcast, believes this is only a minor setback and expects a positive response from the team.
Speaking exclusively to Express Sport, Homewood said of United’s title challenge: “I think they just keep doing what they’re doing.
“The fact that the Sheffield United game was such a shock, I think shows people’s expectations of where Manchester United are.
“But they need to keep getting those results that they have been getting – our away form has been sensational.
“And there will be losses away, we’re not going to be able to go three years undefeated away from home.
“Then it’s about being realistic and going ‘Okay, this is a really young team’.
“The team that we’re seeing now have only really been together a year, so what can they achieve?
“As much as they want to [win the Premier League], there will be setbacks as we’ve seen but that’s they way it goes and it’s about bouncing back from them.
“Every time that’s happened so far… we lost to Spurs and went on a great run, went out of the Champions League and went on a great run.
“That’s all the team can do, when there are those little setbacks you respond positively and go again, and I think that’s what we’re seeing.
“Whether or not we win the Premier League – I’ve no idea – but I have every faith this team will challenge and do it’s best through the season.”

Homewood believes Solskjaer is the right man to guide United in their title bid, having been there and done it himself.
The Norwegian was part of six title-winning sides during his time as a player at Old Trafford.
“He’s setting the standards and he’s setting the attitudes,” Homewood said of the United boss.
“He’s letting the players know what the expectation is, what their focus should be and how to handle it.
“And let’s be fair, if anyone knows what that situation is like it’s him.”
Solskjaer has spoken of his desire for United to be dominant in matches.
The Red Devils are second in the table heading into Tuesday’s clash with Southampton.
“We want to keep on trying to dominate games,” Solskjaer said. “We feel we’ve dominated them.”
