James Maddison stance on Man Utd transfer interest
James Maddison will not be distracted by interest from Manchester United, believes Emile Heskey.
Heskey told Express Sport: “It depends on the individual. It never fazed me.
“[Speculation] just showed me I was doing something right. I know for other players it might be a distraction for them – but for me it wasn’t.
“I don’t think it’s a distraction for Maddison because he’s had it from day dot with Coventry to Norwich, and then he’s gone on loan, and then he’s come to Leicester. I don’t think it affects him either.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic contact made
Manchester United have made contact with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a January transfer.
Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb say the Red Devils feel Ibrahimovic could bolster their forward line in the New Year.
Ibrahimovic left United in 2018 to join LA Galaxy, but after having taken the league by storm this season the former Sweden international feels he can still perform a role for a big club.
Ibrahimovic will be a free agent before the end of the year, meaning he will not cost United a transfer fee.
Harry Kane transfer exclusive
Dimitar Berbatov claims Manchester United may have to break the world transfer record to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.
Berbatov told Express Sport: “Everybody knows how good of a goalscorer Harry Kane is, but for me he isn’t just that, it’s how he sees the game, how he plays with his teammates, linking the play, his assists and his defending are all so important.
“For me, having played for both teams, and liking the way Kane plays it is difficult to see and suggest what he should do next, it’s up to him because he is the captain of England and he can fit in any team.
“For sure, he wants to win something if it will be with Spurs or somewhere else, but of course he will fit into a Manchester United team because he’s English and he’s plays so well in the Premier League, it would be easy for him.
“United will probably have to break the world record if they wanted to sign him. It’s difficult to see it happening but you never know.
“He is the main guy at Spurs and the team starts with him. For Spurs to lose their main guy what would that say to the fans and everybody involved at the club?
“Letting him go would send a bad signal, that’s why I believe it would be a difficult transfer but in this football world nowadays, when you don’t have a player who wants to play for the team it’s better to let him go.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warning
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ‘one game away’ from being under pressure, Gary Neville claims.
“As a United fan, I went into the Liverpool game panicking,” Neville told talkSPORT.
“I was thinking this could be a bad day, this could get moody in the stadium, Liverpool are a great team and they could go 3-0 up – but United played really well.
“Ole had been questioned tactically but he got it right on the day and that was the start of this little run they’re on, beating Partizan and then the Norwich win was big.
“I don’t think they would have been capable of going to Norwich and winning pre the international break. That Liverpool game gave them a little bit of confidence to think: ‘We’re better than this, let’s be positive and beat Norwich’.
“So there has been a mini revival, but I don’t think Ole will be sat comfortable in his chair. I think he realises he is one game away from the clouds circling again.
“Ole is looking up the table rather than look down, so it’s an important game.”
