Manchester United have been slammed for their treatment of new signing Donny van de Beek after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the £40.5million man on the bench yet again against Chelsea.
Van de Beek is still yet to start a Premier League game for United since his big-money move from Ajax.
The 23-year-old midfielder was United’s most expensive signing of the summer transfer window, and much was expected of him following his impressive rise at Ajax.
Initially, there were question marks over where he would fit into the team, and he was expected to be United’s third-choice centre-midfielder behind Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
However, things now seem worse than that for Van de Beek, as he was forced to watch Fred and Scott McTominay start ahead of him against Chelsea.

The Dutchman was caught on camera during the second half looking solumn after watching Pogba get substituted on, while Solskjaer made all three changes without giving Van de Beek a chance.
After the first six games of the Premier League season, Van de Beek has only played an hour, with those minutes coming in bit-part appearances from the bench.
Against Chelsea, Juan Mata was played instead of him in a move United fans were bemused by.
And speaking to ESPN FC, former Liverpool player Don Hutchison claimed the club’s treatment of him shows they don’t really need him, and that the £40.5m transfer was a panic buy.

He said: “I was looking at the pictures of Donny van de Beek sat in the stands looking gloomy thinking ‘what am I doing here?’
“He’s not playing any part at all since he’s been there.
“It looks like a real panic signing they don’t really need.
“It’s a shame for Donny van de Beek really.”

Steve Nicol, who appeared alongside Hutchison on the show, echoed his statement and expressed sympathy for the young midfielder.
He claimed that when he saw the teamsheet he assumed Van de Beek was injured, due to Solskjaer’s decision to start Mata over him.
“I had forgotten about Van de Beek,” Nicol said.
“When I saw the team and saw Juan Mata playing I thought Van de Beek must be injured. But there he was, sat in the stands.
“This guy must be ready to get himself out of there.
“What’s he got to do to get a game?
“Juan Mata plays before you… Oh my goodness.”
