Man Utd vs Copenhagen halted as medics tend to fan behind protective screen
Maguire takes a tumble as Man Utd prepare for Copenhagen clash
Manchester United’s match against Copenhagen was briefly halted on Wednesday night to allow medics to treat a supporter sat in the home stands. A protective screen was erected around the fan to allow for privacy in a worrying sequence of events.
Mid-way through the first hands, a crop of Copenhagen supporters were spotted frantically waving at players and officials to raise alarm. Supporters also attempted to get the attention of those on the pitch, with the match eventually paused.
Medical attendants rushed to the scene and, with the help of matchday stewards, were able to surround the supporter with white sheets to act as a protective screen from the public.
The patient was then treated in the stands before being taken elsewhere for more thorough checks. Play was only halted for a few minutes, though the officials were praised by numerous commentary teams for their alertness to the situation and willingness to intervene and ensure that the supporter received the help that they needed as soon as possible.
