Man Utd winners and losers as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets it right vs RB Leipzig

Manchester United made it two wins from as many Champions League matches this season, obliterating RB Leipzig at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was bold with his team selection, finally giving in to fan pressure as Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek started alongside each other in midfield.

Mason Greenwood found the net early on, calmly slotting the ball home following a Pogba through ball.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score a hat-trick in the second-half.

And Anthony Martial scored a penalty in the closing stages.

So who were the winners and losers for United this evening?

Winners

Mason Greenwood

Greenwood has had a troubling few weeks off the pitch but the 19-year-old made the most of his starting role this evening with an assured performance.

His calm finish is no surprise, given he has shown his finishing ability on a number of occasions already.

Speaking before the match, Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves both commented on how Greenwood was the best finisher in United's ranks.

And he didn't let them down.

Donny van de Beek

Fans and pundits alike have been calling for Van de Beek to get more minutes.

And the Dutchman proved why with a solid performance at Old Trafford this evening.

While Pogba and Fred also played well in the middle of the park, Van de Beek kept the ball significantly better, looking at ease in the middle of the park.

The former Ajax man's range of passing was sublime before he was replaced by Bruno Fernandes in the 77th minute.

Marcus Rashford

United's superstar on and off the pitch!

Rashford came off the bench to net three times for the Red Devils, continuing his stellar month.

The England man was flagged offside for his first, before VAR found he was in his own half as Fernandes played him through on goal.

And minutes later Rashford added a second, and United's third.

But he wasn't done there, scoring with second remaining to grab a hat-trick.

Losers

Anthony Martial

Martial failed to have a big impact on the game and surprisingly lasted longer the entire game on the pitch.

The Frenchman was quiet throughout, struggling to see much of the ball.

His quiet night may be down to the fact he has been absent through suspension in recent weeks.

But Martial did win and score a penalty in the dying stages.

Other than that, the attacker was poor.
