Man Utd’s Lindelof replacement, Newcastle eye £87m bid, Chelsea hijack
Ten Hag coy on Man Utd's links with Neymar
The final day of the Premier League season is upon us, and so is the gateway to the summer transfer window. With the curtain set to fall on another demanding campaign, the division’s heavyweights, and indeed sides across Europe, will subsequently ramp up their plans to hit the ground running over the coming months.
It’s not quite time to relax for Manchester City, West Ham and Manchester United, as all three are gearing up for cup finals in June. But their recruitment teams are already picking up pace behind the scenes to ensure they don’t get left behind.
With Leeds United, Leicester City and Everton all facing the grim prospect of relegation on Sunday, the results will ultimately shape their plans for the summer transfer window, with a drop down to the Championship sure to prompt a fire sale of the clubs’ most coveted stars.

Chelsea hijack
Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte is ‘very close to becoming a Chelsea player’, according to journalist Franco Fernandez, despite the Uruguayan previously being on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues and the Parisians are thought to be fighting it out for the 22-year-old, who has a £52million release clause.
And Chelsea could even pay above that figure to complete the hijack, with a bumper six-year contract supposedly in the pipeline for Ugarte.
Newcastle eye £87m bid
Newcastle United will demand a bid of £87million from Barcelona if they are let Bruno Guimaraes head to the Nou Camp this summer, according to The Times.
The Brazilian has been a smash hit on Tyneside, but Newcastle will reportedly sanction his exit if they feel they are getting the right price.
Selling him for that fee would mean the Magpies more than double their money on the £40m they paid Lyon around 18 months ago.
But while Barca are admirers, their financial situation could put the move on hold until next year.
Man Utd’s Lindelof replacement
Manchester United swooping for Napoli star Kim Min-jae has fuelled talk that club captain Harry Maguire could be on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season.
But the arrival of another defender may force Victor Lindelof out too, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane already providing fierce competition in central defence.
Not content with only signing Kim, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claim that United sent scouts to watch Goncalo Inacio on Friday. The 21-year-old is tipped for a massive future, but his long-term contract at Sporting Lisbon could make his valuation tricky to meet this summer.
