Manchester United 'had £100m bid for Declan Rice last summer REJECTED'
Manchester United ‘had £100m bid for Declan Rice last summer REJECTED… but West Ham could be open to selling the England international to Arsenal for £120m plus add-ons’
- Manchester United tried to sign Declan Rice for £100m in the summer window
- West Ham were not willing to let him depart at the time and rejected their bid
- Arsenal are interested in securing his services during the next transfer window
Manchester United tried to lure Declan Rice to Old Trafford with a £100million offer last summer but had their bid rejected by West Ham, according to reports.
The West Ham captain has been a talisman for the Hammers ever since making his debut in 2017 and is widely-regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Therefore, Manchester United registered an interest in signing Rice – who is out of contract at the end of next season – during the 2022 summer transfer window.
But, according to talkSPORT, West Ham were not willing to let him depart at the time and rejected their £100m offer for the 24-year-old.
However, the Hammers have reportedly changed their stance on the sale of Rice – given he has less than 18 months left on his West Ham contract.

West Ham would reportedly accept an offer of £120m plus add-ons for the England international – who is currently on Mikel Arteta’s radar.
The Arsenal boss gave the green light for the Gunners to make a shock bid for Rice during the January transfer window but it appears they will look to purchase him in the summer instead.
Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Frimpong thinks Rice would ‘flourish’ at Arsenal as he says Mikel Arteta’s squad could help get the best out of him.
Speaking to Midnite, Frimpong said: ‘I think Declan Rice is a top, top class player and he proved that in the World Cup [in Qatar],’
‘He impressed me more than I thought in the World Cup and he showed me that he had very good technical abilities, good awareness and has good pace to recover when needed.
‘I feel that, in an Arsenal shirt and with better players around him, he will be able to flourish. We need to get into the Champions League to be able to attract players like Rice. Who wouldn’t want to play in the Champions League in London, for Arsenal?’
David Moyes has been trying to hold onto Rice for as long as possible but said it was only a matter of time before the England international left the club.
He said: ‘Undoubtedly he’s going to be a top player and undoubtedly he’ll be a British transfer record and more whenever he leaves’.
