Manchester United have sounded out Bayern Munich’s £30million-rated French defender Benjamin Pavard as they look to replace Harry Maguire.

Pavard is keen on the move while United have also spoken to Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

West Ham have agreed a £30m deal in principle with Man Utd for Maguire with personal terms still to be agreed upon between the player and the club.

United have identified Pavard as an ideal replacement for their former skipper.

The Frenchman has one year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and doesn’t intend to sign an extension.

West Ham have reached an agreement in principle with Manchester United to sign Maguire for £30m

Pavard faces stiff competition for a starting place in Thomas Tuchel’s side next season following the signing of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae in July.

His ability to play at right-back as well as a centre half is considered a highly prized by Erik ten Hag as he looks to add further depth to his backline.

The 27-year-old joined Bayern in January 2019 from Stuttgart for £30m.

Over the course of four seasons, he has played 162 games in all competitions for the Bavarian giants.

He is also a 49-cap France international and was part of the 2018 World Cup winning side.

The other names on Ten Hag’s shortlist are Todibo and Tapsoba.

Edmond Tapsoba is on the Erik ten Hag’s shortlist but Bayer Leverkusen’s £43m asking price could be a problem

Jean-Clair Todibo is a much cheaper option than Tapsoba – the 23-year-old is valued at £25m

Tapsoba was briefly linked with a move to Old Trafford in 2021.

United have since renewed their interest after Tottenham pulled out of a move for the 24-year-old.

He has played over 100 times for the Bundesliga outfit since his move from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2020, and was named in the Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament in 2021.

Although his asking price could be a problem for the cash-strapped Red Devils. Bayer Leverkusen value the centre-back at £43m.

Todibo has been linked with a move to United all summer but now that Maguire looks to be departing their interest has intensified.

United are thought to have discussed a potential move with the player’s brother and his representatives.

The 23-year-old is understood to be available for much cheaper than Tapsoba with an asking price of around £25m.
