Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho in pre-agreement ‘possible’

Man Utd not meeting Sancho asking price is 'bizarre' says Cross

Manchester United could strike an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jadon Sancho in the January transfer window, but allow him to stay at the Signal Iduna Park until the end of the season. That’s the verdict of Norwegian journalist Fredrik A. Filvedt.

United spent the entire summer transfer window trying, unsuccessfully, to sign Sancho from Dortmund.

They were told at the start of the window that it would take a bid of £108million for the English wonderkid to depart.

But United refused to meet that asking price, and were therefore left watching as the deadline came and went without a deal being agreed.

Sancho has struggled for form since the deal fell through, and has only managed three assists in the Bundesliga this season without finding the net himself.

But it seems a future move could still be on, with United retaining an interest in the exciting winger.

While Dortmund are reluctant to consider letting him go in the January window, a move at the end of the season is still very possible.

Reports suggest United will wait until the 2021 summer transfer window to make another move.

However, Filvedt claims they could make an agreement in the January transfer window, but allow him to stay until the end of the season.

Chelsea agreed a similar deal with Dortmund to sign Christian Pulisic in the January window in 2019, but loaned him back to the Bundesliga side until the end of the season.

And Filvedt explained to The United Stand that United could agree a similar deal, saying of Sancho: “He’s still a top target [for United].

“Dortmund, they will lose a lot of money compared to if they would sell during the summer because his performances have dropped.

“He told them [Dortmund] about a year ago that he wanted to go home to England.

“He told them during the summer that he wanted to move to Man United, and he didn’t get any of that.

“He looks unhappy. He plays like he’s unhappy.

“United looks like the club that can afford him, so I think that’s very much alive.

“Maybe a pre-agreement for January (is possible), like Chelsea did with Pulisic.”
