Marcus Rashford has been awarded '10/10' after being accused of diving during Manchester United’s game at Brighton.

The England forward took a tumble early in the second half at the Amex following a minor touch from Lewis Dunk as the ball was running out of play. The incident provoked both laughter and criticism from fans, with one blasting: “That’s a terrible dive by Rashford. Deserves booking for that.”

Another claimed: “Imagine if [Mo] Salah did what Rashford did there, horrendous dive that, should be retrospectively done for that.” A third asked: “Why does Rashford dive so shamelessly? That’s genuinely embarrassing.”

A fourth added: “Terrible dive by Rashford. Making a habit of that. Cheat.” A fifth agreed, raging: “Shocking dive from Rashford. Poor form. No contact from Dunk.”

A sixth waded in: "Another Rashford dive, won’t get any criticism though." Another said: "Marcus Rashford with a very amateurish dive that should've ended with a yellow card!"

The incident prompted a number of fans to call for retrospective bans to be dished out for simulation. One said: "Another dive from Rashford. This epidemic of simulation is ridiculous. Bans should be handed out retrospectively if the referee doesn't have the balls to punish it."

However, a few fans tried to see the funny side with one quipping: “Rashford with a 10/10 dive.”
