Mason Greenwood ‘speaks with Erik ten Hag’ for first time since charges dropped
Mason Greenwood has spoken with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag over the phone, according to reports.
Greenwood, 21, had charges of attempted rape, assault and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour against him dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this month, as there was "no longer a realistic prospect of conviction".
His future at United, however, hangs in the balance still as the club he joined aged six are conducting their own internal investigation. But Ten Hag has been in touch with him nonetheless, claim The Sun.

Ten Hag is said to have called Greenwood to ask him how he's feeling physically and mentally. He is also reported to have said that he is pleased the charges have been dropped.
The chat was welcomed by the forward, claims a source in The Sun, with Greenwood having heard little from United since they suspended him in the wake of his initial arrest.
A source said: "Mason has spent a long time with very little, if any, contact from the club. As and when they were in touch, it was never direct and always through a third party. So for the manager to call him was a big step for him and one he really appreciated."

It's noted the decision on Greenwood's future rests with the United hierarchy and not Ten Hag, with opinion reportedly divided among club chiefs.
He remains unable to play or train while they carry out the probe but is determined to get his career back on track, whether that be at Old Trafford or elsewhere.
The Athletic claim United's women's team don't want to see him return, while the men's dressing room is also said to be uncertain. Greenwood is reported to be eyeing up a move to China if he's let go.
