Kylian Mbappe’s potential transfer move to Real Madrid has taken a fresh twist after the Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez provided an update on the deal.
The Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, with Los Blancos long-time admirers and desperate to bring him to the Bernabeu.
The attacker has starred for PSG since joining from Monaco for a world-record breaking fee for a teenager, scoring more than 130 goals in his five years at the Parc des Princes.
Madrid made a late move to sign him in the summer transfer window, though PSG ignored their two bids despite Mbappe recently admitting that he wanted to leave.
He has helped the club to win three Ligue 1 titles during his time in the capital, adding to the one he fired Monaco to.
But his spell in his home country appears to be coming to a close, with Mbappe increasingly unlikely to sign an extension with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
With his contract expiring next summer, Mbappe will be free to speak to foreign clubs from January and sign a pre-contract agreement.
Perez has now admitted that he hopes to open discussions with Mbappe from the start of next year to finally land his long-term target.

“We hope that on January 1 everything can be solved.”
While that appeared to hint that Madrid were expecting Mbappe to seal a move to the La Liga giants, Perez has since moved to backtrack on those comments.
“My words were misinterpreted,” Perez insisted to RMC.
“What I said is that we have to wait until next year to hear from you, always with respect for PSG with which we have good relations.”
In the strongest hint yet that he will indeed be leaving PSG, Mbappe has told L’Equipe that he is “far” from agreeing to stay.
