Mesut Ozil looks set to be left out of Arsenal's Premier League squad this season.
It is the latest barb from Mikel Arteta, who has already excluded the playmaker from his Europa League squad.
Ozil has one year left on his contract, worth £350,000, and the Gunners have tried to offload him.
But the midfielder is happy to be where he is and intends to see out his deal until the summer.
However, his resolve will be tested by Arteta freezing him out of the squad almost entirely.
After leaving him out of the 25-man squad for the Europa League, the Arsenal boss intends on doing the same for the Premier League squad, according to the Daily Mail.
Ozil has been given no assurances over his playing-time this season and has not played for the Gunners in seven months.
Arteta is facing a selection headache ahead of the registration date for the Premier League.
Arsenal have 19 foreign players – two more than selection guidelines will allow.
As well as Ozil, Sokratis was also excluded from the Europa League squad, another player that was told he could leave over the summer.
It marks an astonishing decline for the 32-year-old, who was heralded as a turning point transfer when he joined Arsenal in 2013.
Arteta's decision would mean that the former Real Madrid star will likely not play any football until January – where his future will again take the spotlight.
When pressed on his decision to exclude Ozil from the Europa League, Arteta insisted it was a difficult decision.
"Well he wasn’t the only one who’s not in the squad," he said.
"It was a really difficult decision for me to make because to leave players out of the squad at that level where they know they cannot get involved is really tough.

"I don’t like it at all but the decision has to be made because we have a limit on foreign players and unfortunately we have to make that decision."
However, the Gunners coach did offer Ozil a lifeline – though, a very slim one at that.
Arteta said: "[Ozil and Sokratis] have to respect that decision, try to train the best possible way, help the team as best they can and see what happens."
