Mikel Arteta has tipped Eddie Nketiah for an England call-up as Arsenal prepare to face Liverpool in Monday's Premier League showdown.
Nketiah has started the season in excellent form, having scored against both Leicester City and West Ham in the Gunners' last two games.
The 21-year-old has also hit his stride on the international stage, with 12 goals in 10 matches for England's under-21s.
Gareth Southgate hasn't been shy about selecting young players for his senior side, with the likes of Mason Greenwood, Phil Foden and Tammy Abraham having been chance to impress under his reign.
And with the Three Lions facing matches against Wales, Belgium and Denmark at Wembley next month, Arteta reckons Nketiah could be due a senior call-up.
"Obviously if he keeps performing in the way he has been with us in the last few months he will have a really good chance," said the Arsenal boss, in quotes reported by Mail Online.
"I think culturally, England and the actual manager are really brave with young kids.
"It's up to them, they have to be consistent and keep doing what they're doing at club level and then that opportunity will come in a natural way."
England host Wales in a friendly on October 8, before Nations League games at home to Belgium on October 11 and Denmark three days later.
Before the international break, Arsenal face back-to-back trips to Anfield, with Monday's Premier League clash followed by the fourth-round Carabao Cup tie next Thursday.
Arsenal go into the double header against Liverpool with a 100% record for the season so far – including a penalty shootout victory over Jurgen Klopp's side in the Community Shield.
And Arteta has picked out £72million club record signing Nicolas Pepe for praise, hailing the way the winger has adapted to the Premier League.
"I think he's come a long way," Arteta said. "We know what the club paid for him when he joined and that was obviously an extra pressure but he's a player who's had to adapt, it's a different style.
