Milan Skriniar to Tottenham transfer development with Daniel Levy set to negotiate fee

Milan Skriniar has emerged as Tottenham’s top transfer target and the defender has reportedly already set his sights on a move to north London with Daniel Levy set to hold negotiations before the window closes. Spurs have already been very active in the transfer window, bringing in five new faces.

Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty improve Jose Mourinho’s options on both sides of defence while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg fills that deeper position in midfield.

Joe Hart has replaced Michel Vorm as a back-up goalkeeper with Gareth Bale the marquee signing to help improve Tottenham’s attack – although he won’t be available until November.

But Mourinho is still short of options in the centre of defence following the departure of Jan Vertonghen.

The Tottenham boss has already had his squad stretched to the maximum due to their commitments in the Europa League qualifying stage.

He will once again need to utilise the full depth of his squad this week with three games in the space of six days.

Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier have been the go-to centre-back pairing for Mourinho over the first few weeks of the season with Toby Alderweireld filling in occasionally.

The Tottenham boss will desperately want another top-class defender to join his ranks and Skriniar has emerged as his top target.

Inter Milan are reportedly holding out for £45million for the defender.

But it appears as though Skriniar may not be in Antonio Conte’s first-team plans as he was an unused substitute in Inter’s opening Serie A game at the weekend against Fiorentina.

And Gazzetta dello Sport report the 25-year-old has already made it clear that he would like to join Tottenham.

Spurs are unlikely to meet Inter’s £45m asking price, but it’s suggested talks will take place this week.

And it is claimed that Inter may accept an offer of around £35m-plus bonuses.

Spurs are also hoping to bring in a new striker and Heung-min Son’s injury in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle only increases the urgency to sign another forward.

Mourinho has made it clear that he fully expects the club to bring in a striker, but chairman Levy is running out of time.

Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is continually linked with a move to Tottenham after his move to Roma collapsed.

But Spurs have already missed out on the likes of Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins.
