Ndombele wants Inter Milan transfer but Mourinho keen to follow Son example

Tanguy Ndombele wants to join Inter Milan.

Tottenham do not want to sell their £55million record signing after just a year but the 23-year-old is understood to be unhappy in London.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is a fan and the Italians believe they could tempt Spurs into a swap deal with Jose Mourinho an admirer of 25-year-old Milan Skriniar.

The Slovakia defender could be a potential replacement for Jan Vertonghen after the Belgium defender quit Spurs on a free this month with his contract at an end.

But Spurs are refusing to give up on Ndombele.

The club still believes he could follow the examples of Son Heung Min and Moussa Sissoko, now among their key players.

Son tried to force a move away in 2016 after just a year for similar reasons to Ndombele but eventually adapted and has since become indispensable.

Sissoko, signed in 2016, struggled for the first two years of his stay at Tottenham before eventually finding his form.

Earlier this month Jose Mourinho insisted Ndombele – who has struggled with injuries and poor form – could follow the example of Luka Modric at Real Madrid as an example.

Modric, signed by Mourinho, was voted La Liga’s worst signing after joining Real from Spurs in 2012. Modric went on to win four Champions Leagues there.
