International fans will be given more insight into player performances than ever before from this weekend with the launch of a new Premier League Data Zone for top-flight games televised overseas.
Mail Sport has learned that the new stats-based feature, which will be available for the first time for international coverage of Manchester City’s trip to Arsenal on Sunday, will immerse viewers in data related to the match they are watching with key metrics such as passing accuracy, shot speeds, sprints, total distance travelled and touches in the final third available in real time.
The new Data Zone will be available on red button coverage of Premier League games in 185 countries worldwide, with the spin-off broadcast also featuring two separate commentators to the main feed whose job is just to analyse the stats.
The data will be displayed through a so-called L-bar on the screen interwoven into the live match broadcast, and will feature all the metrics demanded by club analysts, which also include progressive passes, team presses and pass probabilities.

The Data Zone will also integrate official Fantasy Premier League updates and rankings so fans can keep track of their team’s performance whilst watching the live game.
The Data Zone has been developed as part of a collaboration between the Premier League, their official data Football DataCo and Genius Sports, their official tracking partner.
While domestic rights holders Sky Sports and TNT Sport have yet to sign up to use the Data Zone they may do so in future, particularly if it is well received by audiences abroad.
The Premier League Data Zone has been adopted by broadcasters all over the world, including NBC Sports in the United States, Sky Sports elsewhere in Europe, ESPN Brazil and Canal+ in France.
