Newcastle are considering a cut-price January move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to reports in Italy. Rabiot, 26, joined the Italian giants in 2019 from PSG and has been a mainstay in the side ever since.
But Juventus continue to look for ways to reduce the club’s hefty wage bill, and the departure of Rabiot would help.
Calciomercato say Rabiot would be available for around €15million (£12.8m) in the upcoming window, while reporting that contact has been made with newly super-rich Newcastle.
Rabiot has already been linked with a move to the Premier League – with Everton and West Ham said to be interested – but Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are said to be the latest club to enter the fray.
But Newcastle will have to compete with other clubs for the Frenchman’s signature, with the same outlet claiming that Rabiot could re-unite with former boss Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti will be hoping that working with Rabiot at PSG will put him in good stead to sign the midfielder should he attempt to buy the 26-year-old in January.
The French midfielder’s current deal at Juventus runs until 2023 and it seems likely he will be gone before his contract is up with The Old Lady.
Rabiot played almost 80 minutes in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina, before being substituted for Juan Cuadrado.
And it was the former Chelsea winger who scored the winner, with a brilliant solo effort in stoppage time at the Allianz Stadium for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Juventus are currently lurking in lowly eighth in Serie A, and are already some 14 points behind leaders Napoli in the table.
Juventus are also four adrift of Atalanta – who currently occupy the final Champions League spot – and one behind Jose Mourinho’s struggling Roma in sixth.
The 26-year-old is latest big-name player to be linked with a move to St James’ Park following the club’s £305m Saudi-led takeover last month.
New boss Howe will be on the lookout for several signings in the upcoming window to help save the club from falling into the Championship.
And signing Rabiot would be a significant upgrade on their current midfield pairing of Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden.
Newcastle are currently 19th in the Premier League and winless from their first 11 league games of the season.
The Magpies have just five points and are already five adrift of safety heading into the November international break.
