Newcastle have reportedly held positive talks with exciting teenage striker Hugo Ekitike

Eddie Howe must be cautious with his spending after splashing out £94million in January

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are in discussions with the striker’s representatives about a five-year contract and are also still negotiating a transfer fee with Reims.

It is claimed that a figure of around £25.6million is on the table for Ekitike, who is regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe.

The France Under-20 international enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Reims in 2021-22, scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances in Ligue 1. No other teenager found the net more in Europe’s top five leagues.

Sky Sports’ report adds that Newcastle are looking to complement the arrival of Ekitike by signing a winger and have identified Moussa Diaby and Ismaila Sarr as targets.

Moussa Diaby and Ismaila Sarr have also emerged as possible transfer targets for Newcastle

22-year-old Diaby, a former PSG academy prospect, scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions last season.

Meanwhile, Sarr, 24, is likely to look for a move away from Watford this summer following the Hornets’ relegation to the Championship.

However, Eddie Howe must be cautious with his spending as Newcastle will need to fall in line with Financial Fair Play restrictions after splashing out £94million in January.
