Newcastle will reportedly attempt to lure four Arsenal players to St James’ Park this month as manager Eddie Howe looks to mastermind his side’s Premier League survival. The Magpies are 19th in the table after winning just one game all season.

Newcastle have been in egregious form this campaign and were unable to find a single victory under previous boss Steve Bruce.

The former Manchester United defender was given his marching orders after the club were taken over by a Saudi-led consortium in the autumn.

But the northeast side have only managed to pick up six points under Howe and appear to be staring over the precipice, with a drop to the Championship looking ever-more likely.

Newcastle will need to spend wisely this month to ensure they bring in the personnel who can make a difference.

And, according to The Mirror, the club are lining-up moves for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Eddie Nketiah, Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding.

All four players are out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and could be tempted to provide their services in a relegation dogfight if a big-money offer comes their way.

Aubameyang began the season as the Arsenal captain but was stripped of the responsibility after a discipline breach before Christmas.

The Gabon international has been left out of Arsenal’s last six matchday squads and has now flown off to join-up with his country for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Speculation is rife that Aubameyang could have in fact played his final game for the Gunners and could depart the club later this month.

Fellow striker Nketiah has found his game time in north London limited, although he did hit a hat-trick in his team’s 5-1 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Sunderland last month.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season – so the Gunners may be willing to sanction a move to Newcastle this month to ensure they don’t miss out on some sort of fee for the player.

Securing the services of at least one of the Arsenal strikers could be Newcastle’s priority in the coming weeks.

The Magpies were dealt a blow when Callum Wilson limped off during his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United last week, with the star forward set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Howe could look to bolster his side’s midfield with the signing of Egypt international Elneny.

The 29-year-old is another player coming to the end of his contract and Arsenal will be keen to ensure he doesn’t walk away for free in the summer.

And at the back, Holding could be a viable option to help solve Newcastle’s defensive woes.

No team has conceded more goals than Newcastle in the top-flight this season and Holding could be keen for regular Premier League football once again after falling down the pecking order in the capital.
