Thomas Partey is relishing the chance to play alongside Martin Odegaard at Arsenal following his loan arrival from Real Madrid until the end of the season.

Odegaard sealed a January loan switch to north London in search of more game time, and Arsenal fans have only seen glimpses of his talent in the Premier League so far.

And with the Gunners faithful eager to see more of their loan star in action, former Atletico Madrid midfielder Partey has admitted it is ‘amazing’ to have Odegaard at the club – having reflected on his ‘difficult’ experiences coming up against him in La Liga while he was on loan at Real Sociedad.

Partey told Stadium Astro: ‘It’s difficult when you play against him.

‘I remember playing against him, he’s so intelligent, he is always quick on the ball, he doesn’t give you a chance to win the ball.

‘It’s amazing to have him here. I hope he has a great season and he’s able to help us achieve what we want to achieve.’

Odegaard is looking to put himself on Europe’s radar once again with Arsenal after struggling to get his Real Madrid career going.

After joining the Spanish giants at 16 years of age, Odegaard was viewed as one of the most exciting talents in world football but his time in Madrid hasn’t gone to plan.

Amid a lack of game time at Madrid, Odegaard has been shipped out on loan to the likes of Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad – where he shone – before joining Arsenal.

And now with games coming thick and fast, Arsenal are hopeful the 22-year-old Norwegian star will play a big role until the end of the campaign.

The attacking midfielder looked lively after coming on as a second-half substitute for the Gunners in their 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday.

He will be desperate to make an impact immediately as Arsenal look to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Leeds at the Emirates next Sunday.

The Gunners – who languish in 10th place in the Premier League – have endured a tough week, having lost to Wolves before falling to defeat at Villa.
