Manchester United legend Patrice Evra says Eric Bailly can no longer ‘cry’ about being left out of the side following his shocking mistake against Tottenham.
The hosts found themselves 4-1 down at half-time in an astonishing first half at Old Trafford, which saw Anthony Martial sent off with the scoreline at 2-1.
Bailly was given his first start in the Premier League since a 2-1 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in February.
The Ivorian has been firmly behind Victor Lindelof in the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the Swede’s horrific start to the season saw the Norwegian opt for Bailly form the start.
But with United down to ten men and the scoreline at 2-1, Bailly made a shocking decision to play out from the back and played a hospital pass to Nemanja Matic, who was robbed before Kane applied a third.
‘I’ve been a player so I don’t like to go on one player but all of the defence has been a shock,’ Evra told Sky Sports.
‘Bailly got the chance to play instead of Lindelöf, and he made that mistake! So don’t cry when you don’t play.’
United’s day got even worse as Serge Aurier applied a fifth after the break and it was a case of damage limitations for Solskjaer’s side.
There will now be serious question marks raised over the Norwegian’s position at the club given United have just three points from their first three matches.
