Pep Guardiola’s weird pronunciation of Liverpool star dubbed ‘absolutely mental’
Liverpool fans have lost their minds at Pep Guardiola's pronunciation of their new Hungarian superstar Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Reds will go toe-to-toe with Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime as the pair battle for a spot at the summit of the Premier League. And ahead of the game, Guardiola was outlining Jurgen Klopp's side's biggest threat – their summer signing Szoboszlai.
Guardiola said: "Salah, of course, and now with Szoboszlai," but Guardiola pronounced his name Svol-az-e. And Liverpool fans were quick to joke about his mistake on social media.

"Pep Guardiola’s pronunciation of “Szoboszlai” is absolutely mental," one fan joked. While a second responded: "Svolazi and Gravener has this guy been playing PES lately!"
"Szoboszlai should be a name he's going to remember to say correctly after tomorrow," a third warned. And another added: "We’re this man’s headache… stop stressing we’re not even that good… I beg!"

Szoboszlai has been earning a whole host of admirers on Merseyside, and Reds legend John Barnes even compared him to Steven Gerrard. Speaking on talkSPORT, Barnes said: ""Szoboszlai has been incredible.
"I'd kind of heard about him before, but I've never see him and that's how good the scouting is, because Liverpool sign players who will suit the way Liverpool play. I don't think he'd suit Man City or Arsenal, and he probably wouldn't go there!
"He reminds me of Steven Gerrard to a certain extent, because you don't necessarily get box-to-box midfield players who can defend, who can attack, but that's what he does. I've been so impressed with him and he's level-headed, he's 22, he's been fantastic. He's been our best player."
