Pochettino ‘tells Todd Boehly’ he wants a dressing room ban at Chelsea
Mauricio Pochettino has told Todd Boehly he does not want him entering the dressing room if he becomes the next Chelsea manager, according to reports. The Blues’ American owner has been a big presence around the players during his tenure so far.
Pochettino is now the strong favourite to become the next permanent Chelsea boss. Julian Nagelsmann pulled out of the running last week to give more of an open path to the former Tottenham head coach.
The Argentine looks set to become the third permanent boss in the Stamford Bridge dugout since Boehly bought the club a year ago. Boehly has splashed out in the transfer market, spending over £600million in just two windows.
He has been a hands-on owner and often visits the dressing room after matches. He stormed in after the recent defeat to Brighton to give the players a dressing down.

But that looks set to stop if Pochettino arrives. European football expert Julien Laurens claims that the topic has been discussed during talks between Pochettino and Boehly.
The 51-year-old has made it clear to his prospective new boss that he doesn’t want interference from the owner when it comes to a match day. Laurens told ESPN FC: “I’m told that they addressed that in the many interviews that Pochettino had with Boehly and the sporting directors.
“That was addressed and rightly so, I think. [Boehly] knows that Pochettino’s personality doesn’t allow any kind of interference from the ownership or anything like that.
“This is not how he works. I think he was very, very clear on that.”

Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain last summer. He has been linked with a return to Spurs and Tottenham fans have repeatedly chanted his name in recent matches in an attempt to convince the board to reappoint him.
But their dreams look set to be shattered if Pochettino does take the reigns at their London rivals. Nagelsmann is the favourite for the Spurs job after talks with Chelsea broke down.
Pochettino spent over five years at Tottenham between 2014 and 2019. He led the club to the Champions League final in his final year in charge but was sacked a few months later following a disappointing start to the following season.
One of Pochettino’s first tasks at Chelsea if he were to take over is to solve their goalscoring issues. There is also speculation over several key players including Mason Mount, who the club feel Pochettino could convince to stay.
