PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino had one strict condition that stopped Kylian Mbappe from leaving for Anfield over the summer.
Liverpool were keen to make the young starlet their latest hero as Mbappe looked to push for a move away from the French capital.
However, the move hindered on Pochettino's one very specific clause being met: Poch wanted both Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero at PSG.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Poch was ready to offload Mbappe if it meant he could acquire the Argentine duo.
And with the PSG gaffer able to get his hands on Messi, the deal could be wide open again.
Messi has taken time to find his feet in France, and his moments of brilliance that were so commonplace at Barcelona have only been fleeting in the City of Lights.
However, PSG's acquisition of Messi was the only part of Poch's deal the Parisians could complete.
Sergio Aguero, who like Messi was a free-agent, moved to Barcelona after calling time on his spell at Manchester City.
How big of a difference would Kylian Mbappe make to Liverpool's team right now? Let us know in the comments section.
Aguero was forced off the field with breathing difficulties and chest pains last month, and reports from Catalonia are suggesting the 33-year-old will have to hang up his boots.
Mbappe came close to joining Real Madrid over the summer, and it's expected that Los Blancos will swoop back in for Mbappe this summer.
However, according to the Spanish paper El Nacional, Mbappe will only join Madrid if they replace Carlo Ancelotti with Liverpool's boss Jurgen Klopp.
