Pogba 'is LEFT OUT of Juventus' squad for disciplinary reasons'

Paul Pogba is AXED by Juventus in yet another issue in his disastrous return from Man United, with French midfield star dropped from the squad after he turned up late for a meeting

Paul Pogba’s disastrous season at Juventus has gone from bad to worse after reportedly being left out of their squad to face Freiburg due to disciplinary reasons.

The Frenchman re-joined the Turin outfit on a free transfer last summer – six years after leaving the club for Manchester United in a £89million deal – but the move has not gone to plan at all amid a campaign plagued by injuries.

The midfielder also came under fire after being spotted on a skiing trip despite being sidelined – and now he’ll face further scrutiny after reports from Goal that he will play no part of their Europa League game against Freiburg after arriving late to link up with the rest of his team-mates.

Juventus host the German outfit at the Allianz Stadium in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie on Thursday evening, but Pogba – who has played a total of just 35 minutes this season – will reportedly play no part after Massimiliano Allegri cracked the whip.

Pogba was first sidelined last summer as he battled a crippling knee injury and required surgery on the problem – and has since suffered setbacks with a thigh muscle strain sustained in October.

He is said to be earning around £8.8m per season in Turin and his fitness concerns have led to frustration among fans and pundits – and the latest development will likely be met with further anger.

Pogba was already scolded by former Juventus defender Marco Tardelli after he was pictured enjoying a skiing trip last month – calling him a ‘big problem’ for the club and admitting the player ‘annoys him’.

‘Pogba hasn’t played since April 2022, when he was still in Manchester,’ he said.

‘It’s now a problem for Juve, we don’t know when he’ll return and we don’t know what he wants to do.

‘Pogba goes skiing while his team-mates are struggling with the big problems of Juve.

‘Today Pogba is a big problem that the Bianconeri must solve. This situation also demonstrates that Juve do not have clear enough ideas.

Pogba has played just 35 minutes of action for Juve this term, having returned in a 4-2 win over Turin in February

‘[Massimiliano] Allegri has to take over for me, it’s not possible to have a player like that on the payroll.

‘His behaviour towards his team-mates isn’t fair either, it annoys me.’

Pogba has gone on to make two substitute appearances for the Old Lady – playing 21 minutes in their 4-2 win over Torino for his second debut in February and 14 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Roma last weekend.

The latest incident adds to a horror campaign overall for Juventus, who have seen their entire board resign en masse in November over accusations of false accounting.

The same scandal saw the club docked 15 points in Serie A in January that saw them plummet from third to ninth place.

They now sit in seventh position on 35 points following an impressive league run of four straight victories. With Allegri finally building some momentum, this latest episode was the last thing he needed.
